Nastrovya

Last week after going to [livejournal.com profile] pheromone's house to see her monologue, I tagged along to auditions for You Can't Take It With You to see if there were any roles I liked. I didn't know the show at all, but it turned out there was a role that intrigued me. After waffling all day about my schedule, I decided at about 4:00 PM to go show up and shoot for that.

I came armed with an unmemorized monologue from the completely incongruous The Laramie Project. The two shows couldn't possible be farther apart on the light/dark scale. But cold readings are my stronger suite, and they went well. I didn't expect to be doing a show this winter, but that's the way things go at T@F, and with me.

I'm sure that it will suprise no one that I am playing a Russian Grand Dutchess. *best haughty face* She's pretty much the polar opposite of Mistress Quickly. I will be seeking out [livejournal.com profile] imlad for coaching on my Russian accent. ;-)

Funny, when I was the age to play ingenues, I couldn't play them because I'm me and very-not-that, and I hated that I was a character actress. Now I couldn't be happier. Housekeeper to Royal in two shows. Character acting is definitely for me.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] lordfeepness, our director and fearless leader, and congrats to the other peeps in the show. I raise a vodka to you!

Oh, you bitch. I knew there was a reason I would have wanted to try out for that part! ;-)

Seriously, you will be FAAAAAHBULOUS.

Hehe! I'd still seek out [livejournal.com profile] imlad even if the accent weren't Russian. I'd just lie and say it was!
