First Festival Update

I'm just back from a wonderful opening night of Festival@First: Surprise Kisses. The rest of the gang is down at Redbones celebrating, but I have to be at work so early in the morning that I headed home early. Coming home with me were a gorgeous bouquet of yellow roses from my dear cast of Surprise, and a snazzy boutonniere given to all the one-act directors by our amazing Festival Director pheromone. It was a flower kind of night. :-)

The performance went without any major hitches. It was definitely one of T@F's best opening nights, with a warm and sizable house and 8 fantastic casts. Extremely special gratitude to my cast: dietrich, she_ragroupie, and Braddoc (who we'll get on LJ one of these days). Your talent and dedication made my very first venture into directing a joyful experience. I predict a fun and fabulous run for you.

Mad props to pheromone, without whom this festival wouldn't be happening. Many months ago she and I went head-to-head over what kind of festival to have. I'm glad she won, because we got to integrate gifted up-and-coming playwrights and challenge ourselves in wonderful new ways. Her energy and hard work has kept the show afloat and is an inspiration. *High five* Keep beaming the bright light. ;-)

A special shout out goes to the cast of Ignorance Is Bris, who courageously got themselves out of a bad place with the help of one extremely insightful and talented stealth consultant. I do hope that person will direct for us someday. Mazel tov, all three of you.

The crew, and the Firsties who showed up to wear cows, really made it a family venture. We have a good thing going.
