Nobody Works at NSTAR

For real. It's an entirely automated machine with no actual employees. If you want to pay your bill over the phone but want to do so via a live human employee, you can't. There aren't any, just robots who will offer you The Following 7 Options over and over until you finally are broken by the NSTAR Novena and you choose an option.

I was a bit late this month (same as it ever was) so I didn't get to use my preferred method of paying utility bills, which is to tie my check to a brick and huck it through the plate glass lobby window of the corporate main office. It's a bit more subtle than writing "Die, Fascist Vampires!" in the memo blank on your check, I think.

Goodbye, my darling money. You were only mine for such a brief time. I'll miss you.

The folks at NSTAR are very nice, actually. But my experience is with corporate, not accounting.
