Ice Cream Truck
Right now there is an ice cream truck on my street. You might think that's nothing special, but in my 9 years on this street, and in fact in my 12 years in the 'ville, this is the first street-to-street ambling ice cream truck I've seen. I even heard a handful of kids scream "ICE CREAM!!!" Here, in a community where kids are not allowed to play outside.
But ice cream trucks transcend generations and communities. We all scream for ice cream.
Now it's on the next street over. I can still hear the truck's song. It's a sped-up version of Send In The Clowns. Umm, sure, ice cream trucks in my day didn't play carousel covers of macabre Sondheim musical numbers, but I chalk that up to _________________ and I'm in no mood for a fight. I'm with the kids:
This is just a moment cap that made me smile big.

When I was a kid our ice cream truck used to play a song that none of we kids knew, but that our grandmother informed us had been a chart-topper in like 1907. It was a song about a "shy little Injun maid" named Redwing whose "brave" was killed in battle and she was 'weeping her heart away" all the time. Poor little Redwing! Cheerful ice cream truck song! The melody was chipper, though.

there's been a strange really beaten up looking ice cream truck prowling around my neighborhood lately and i'm wondering if it's the same one.

Of course, my first association with the song is a clown music box of my mother's; when you pull out the drawer at the bottom, the song plays and the clown dances.
I guess there aren't too many songs with Clown in the title.
