These Little Piggies Went To Market

[livejournal.com profile] beowabbit and I both know we could be spending less on lunches and breakfasts at work. So we made a big trip to the huge Stop & Shop in Quincy to stock up. You may think a trip to the supermarket ain't no thang, but living where I do and having no car, a jaunt out to a big suburban supermarket is a treat. To say we went nuts is a serious understatement. We both piled our carts to brimming. Mine was so heavy that, pushing it, I must have looked like I was rolling a boulder uphill. I wanted lots of lunch and breakfasty foods, so I can brown bag it and not spend $8 a day for Au Bon lunches. Geting it all bagged up and out to the car actually wore us out.

And now we're going to a restaurant for dinner.

To be fair, though, we each had about 60-70 meals in our cart, so it will definitely save us money in the long run.

The Stop & Shop is 3 times the size of Porter Star, and vastly more comprehensive. Things I haven't found in years, they have. I'm from Wegmans country (mid-Atlantic), so I've been missing real megamarkets.

The Stop & Shop in Somerville is even bigger, but Jay lives in Quincy so we hit that one. Try the one in the Ville though and you'll see the difference from the Porter Star.

OK, but can you give me just one example of something you bought yesterday in Quincy that they don't have at Porter Square?

Jello Brand Custard Mix
Cheese Dogs
Baby Carrot and Ranch Dip Packs
Cock Flavour Soup (goggle it)
Quaker Puffed Rice
Captain's Table Crackers

There was more, but I'm too lazy to go to the kitchen right now.
