Monsoon

Since yesterday's predicted thunder and hail storm appeared to have passed us over as little more than a simple shower, I decided to get some exercize and walk home from Harvard Square. But the walk turned out to be from Central Square -- the Red Line was halted indefinitely and I got out a stop earlier. There was just the faintest mist of rain, and I didn't even put up my umbrella because it felt good after sitting in the sweltering T. That is, until I was just passed Harvard Square.

This was when Act II of the storm began. It started coming down in sideways sheets, leaving no possibility of keeping dry. I dashed for shelter under the nearest tree, where several people were huddled. Among them was a sweet senior couple who were cuddling and kissing under a single umbrella. They were such a romantic sight that they actually made it worth being caught in the downpour. I hoped my Wabbit was somewhere safe from the storm.

A mile and a half to go, in thoroughly sopping shoes and socks. Squish, squish, squish. I stopped in Porter Exchange to text my sweetielove, then continued on under now sunny skies. I ran into my friend Joe having wine on his front porch, and stopped to chat. Squish, squish, squish, and finally I was home. Never has it felt more exquisite to take off my shoes and socks!
