The 5200 Error

My home printer/copier/scanner is on the fritz, and the only thing it can tell me about where it hurts is that it has the 5200 error. I only had a few minutes to investigate, and not having any idea what this was I Googled and clicked the first result I got. It basically said that the 5200 error is because of a poorly maintained computer, and here download this, and it will fix it. I downloaded, and it ran a scan, but then it said: Um, it's not free. Buy eeet now. I didn't.

The Wabbit said to unplug the printer from the computer, but that didn't work. Would any of you beloved geeks know how to cure a case of 5200 error?

What is the make and model of the device?

The printer/copier/scanner is a Canon, but damned if I know the model. [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit gave it to me, so maybe he remembers, or I can post it when I'm home and can check.
