Putting Into Words

I have several essays in me, mostly of a political nature, and although I got started on one yesterday, the necessary research became exhaustive and I had to stop for the day. Proper research is the difference between an essay and a frothing screed, and we don't need any more of those, please and thank you. Fortunately I have some rare free evenings this week. I feel an urge to be contributing more the the stone soup of political thought that I drink from daily.

Our country has been giving me plenty to be concerned about, that's for certain. These days I've been shaken by the emergence of the She-Devil of The North, whose medieval stances on the issues most closely and intimately affect my specific demographic. But I'll chill for the moment -- research before frothing. Of Note: this difficulty with maintaining a pragmatic (if not certifiably professional) emotional distance from politics is precisely why I am ill-suited for any kind of role playing game. I get too emotionally entwined. I feel like a duo of warted Orcs are lurching across the land and my brave Knight of Change needs me in his army. Unicorn Cavalry. Sigh.

I did have a wonderful weekend though, part of it spent in Providence with my sweet [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit at WaterFire. It did this soul good to be gazing into the fires by moonlight with the loving arms of my darling around me. There was also a dim sum brunch with non-LJ friends, and precious reading time (a book, not the internet).

Onward to the week ahead.
