Today is the 13th anniversary of my father's suicide. We weren't close, and he wasn't able to love his family, only the muses who passed through his life one by one. Still, I thank him for helping my mother to give me life, and I hope that his departure brought him the solace and rest he hoped it would.

FWIW, my father committed suicide too. At least, that's what I call death by alcoholism. I still wish he could have found some peace in life.

As someone who also had an immediate relation commit suicide, I understand what it is like and how this sort of thing never leaves fully you. I do appreciate your sharing this and I also wish all victims of suicide solace, wherever their souls may be, and for them to be one day forgiven by their loved ones.

Sorry I'm so late on this one, still catching up from Passover. My sympathy on the anniversary, but, from what I remember from previous years, I'm really glad that it sounds like you're making better peace with it and with him. Peace to you both.
