This Treecide. It is sad ...and prolific.

That's why I have a plastic tree--lasts for ages, doesn't cause a mess. My ex-roommate's cat did try to eat it, but Buddy wasn't terribly bright.

Waaaaaa! Why do people kill Christmas so early? :-(

I got an artificial one for the first time this year. It's still up!

There's one more day, right? Officially and whatnot?

I get why people want their living room back, but I don't understand why they take down the lights so early. We've still got many weeks of cold and dark to go!

My sister's tree was so dry that is was a fire hazard. Seriously, it never did drink the water she gave it. (And yes, she did cut the end off before she put it up.)

I don't understand the lights coming down though.

I like the one that's propped up to make it look like it's still standing. LOL

BTW, did you ever watch Treevenge? Quite a funny (and sick!) take on the whole Christmas tree tradition from the tree's perspective!

Ok, was I the only one laughing at what the photo was *really* saying (to me)? That people were using trees to mark their parking spaces?

Use whatever's at hand...and it's prettier than a plastic lawnchair.

Would it have killed everyone to wait until Christmas ends tomorrow?!

I too have a plastic tree. It paid for itself the first year. Recently I priced live trees at a corner tree lot and was shocked to find the asking prices of $45 for a small one and up to $100 for a tall one. WOW! I also dont have to kill a tree every year. I can put up my tree the day after Thanksgiving and leave it up until January 5th (Epiphany, or 12th Night). And it stores neatly in a box the is one foot x one foot x four feet in dimensions -- takes up a small corner of the closet.

When I lived in Manhattan, I volunteered with New York Cares. One of the events was to go around and collect Christmas trees on the curb and bring them to the park to mulch them. You got to ride around on the back of a DPW truck and use a chipper/shredder! Of course in New York City, there are like 100 times as many in one place.

So we're loading them up, and a cute kid cries out to his parents, asking why the people are taking the Christmas trees. I told the kid not to worry because we'll bring them back next year :)

Yay Treevenge! Such a sick little joy. :)

People *have* to get rid of their dead trees now because the city won't take the trees if you keep them up a few days more in your living room. Then you're stuck with an extremely dry, needle-dropping piece of firestarter until you figure out how to discard this sticky mess yourself.

I know! The lights cheer things up so much in the bleak winter. I wish folks would leave them up until close to spring.

Eeeew! I just now watched. That was disturbing! Another reason I'm glad I have an artificial tree!

Agreed. My tree is still up, because its still Christmas!
