ShelterBox
Since a lot of readers here don't read me on Facebook, I want to share a charitable organization that I found. It's a UK based organization called ShelterBox that provides emergency shelter tents, camping stoves, safe water straws, blankets and other supplies to newly-homeless victims of disasters. Each box contains a tent big enough for a family of 10. The plastic box itself can be reused for many purposes.
Each box costs $1,000 to fill and ship, and though I don't think I know anyone who can afford to sponsor a whole box themselves, small donations also help, and I added mine which will be combined with lots of other small donors to make up a box.
If you're in the US:

If you're in the UK or elsewhere:

I'm glad I found this and I'm glad boxes have been deploying to give disaster-struck families a place to serve as their temporary home. I just wanted to share.
