...In Which Our Heroine Suffers For Beauty

Today I started walking for 45 minutes on my lunch hour, which will be the plan each and every lunch hour until there is 10 pounds less of me. I thought it would be nice to amble around the neighborhood near my workplace, and I set out looking for the shady side of the street.

The answer to the question "Did you find the shady side of the street?" would be "There isn't one." In this area of Cambridge, the trees are small and sparse, compared to the mighty oaks of The 'Ville. I scurried like a vampire to the mall to walk laps, up on the 2nd level where I'm out of the way.

Over the past week my eating habits/practices have changed radically, reflecting my repentance from eee-vile. Hummus is my new BFF and I eat it every day. Lean Cuisines replace Wendy's. I get 89-calorie smoothies as a treat/dessert every day. Goddess have mercy, I have temporarily given up cheese (except low-fat cottage cheese).

It would be patently silly to chronicle "My Weight Loss Journey" for 10 lousy pounds. It cracks me up to think of "I went from a size 10 all the way to a size 8, and you can too!" or "How I lowered my BMI from 24 to 22.5!" You probably won't hear any more dieting meta until I post a picture of myself in my skinny jeans, signaling that I'm done. I just felt like talking about it today, because I'm such a very good girl.

There are trees along the Charles River, from the Sonesta Hotel southwards. But why do you want shade on a pleasant, temperate day like today?

I can't handle bright sunlight, except in the dead of winter. I often can be seen around Davis using a parasol. But I don't feel like bringing it to work everyday. I can still have my walks outside on overcast days, though.

Pat, pat, pat.

It was lovely to see you so serendipitously. I think you're lookin' good as is, but I wish you luck on the endeavor.

So great to see you, too!

It wouldn't matter so much to me if my clothes fit. but 3/4ths of my wardrobe I can't even button anymore. I miss them!

I hear ya. This is my exact problem. I know I'm at a perfectly healthy weight, but I want my clothes back.

No cheese! Are you insane, woman?

[identity profile] plumtreeblossom.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Just for the 7-8 weeks it will take me to lose the weight. Then I can has cheeseburger or anything else I want, in moderation. I overate and quit exercising, which caused the fat fest.

Ugh. I've been contemplating giving up pasta and rice. Running several times a week has certainly been helping, though.

I've given up white pasta and rice, but I can have whole wheat pasta and brown rice. At least it's something...

Kudos to you! Giving up cheese alone is worth a pat on the back, in my book! I get up every morning at 5am so I can walk/run.....if I didn't do it first thing, I wouldn't do it......but even more than losing weight, I feel AMAZING when I do it every day!

I'll be able to have the cheese again in moderation once I get rid of the weight. And I can have one of those snack cups of cottage cheese if I'm really jonesing. :-)

I'll actually be fine with just low-fat cottage cheese for the short time it will take me to lose the weight. I love it but I can do without, so long as I know there's a modestly sized pot of cheese at the end of the rainbow. :-)

I generally find, particularly in the short term (like you're doing) that cold turkey is easier than moderation. That was definitely the case for me and cheese. I mean, trying to stop at just that much brie when the rest of the wheel sat there in the fridge? No way!

Alas in 4 days the posts will just be "No cheese and no Wendy's makes Plumtreeblossum go crazy" written over and over in assorted formatting...

When the cats start wondering where their food has disappeared to, then we'll know I've gone too far.

you go girl!

And where did you find an 85 calorie smoothie? I love those things but I avoid them because they are loaded with sugar.

I think after my move is over I need to take a page from your book and get serious about the slim down!

[identity profile] plumtreeblossom.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I get them at the Freshen stand in the Cambridgeside Galleria. Total yum. A big reason I want to slim down is for the show. I want to be looking my best, considering I'm playing the love interest. I was 1 pound down on the scale this morning!

That is where Matt and I used to live and there are totally not enough trees. I have lost ten pounds and am trying to lose ten more. Good luck!
