Fur Baby

I'm at that day-before-holiday-trip place where my heart is breaking over leaving my beloved kitty. There he is now, sleeping on the lower corner of my bed in his loyal dog-like fashion, doing his tiny snoring. 'Splode....then sad face. He will be under the care of the sweet and always delightful [livejournal.com profile] oakenguy, and I feel good about that. He has loved many animals and can (I'm sure) relate to this cat-mommy's probable tears come tomorrow morning when I leave. The hardest part is that I can't tell BenBen that I'll be back in several days.

:-( *blink*

Next pet: Hollywood purse dog who goes everywhere I go.

Yeah

This is why I tend to think only of getting a small dog. It's easier to take them with you.

oh, you can tell him, but he won't understand. You can even lie to him, although that always feels wrong to me :)

I wonder how many people have skyped with their pets.

We're fortunate that our cats absolutely adore the friend that we leave them with. Yes, they're maybe a little upset to see us go, but they're so HAPPY to see her that we feel okay about it. I mean, they're happy to come home again, too, but, when we take their carriers into her house, our cats know they'll be spoiled rotten for several days.

I know he'll be fine, and I'm probably projecting all kinds of human emotions onto him that he's not actually going to feel. It's most likely going to be me that feels it most.

That's how my parents' dog feels about going to the kennel. Playing with other dogs is her most favorite thing, and she's learned that when my parents drive down a certain street, it means they're going to that awesome place where there are other dogs all the time. It's like going to summer camp. :)

I understand completely. I just dropped off my three fur-demons to board at the vet's for the week, and coming home to the big empty in the house is almost more than I can handle. (It's bad enough when the trip is one I actually want to take.) And it doesn't help that Raleigh (the oldest) is a guilt-master, with "I will never forgive you for this" eyes.
