You wouldn’t think a fun tech run would be possible, but ours was. Plenty of laughs, cuddles, cloves, and bananas kept the mood buoyant even though we worked until nearly midnight. Our tech team deserves a 10-handed massage and French champagne. They’re doing an unbelievable job, particularly given the challenges of our limited resources. Roomie Chris (our house manager) is raking in reservations, so we may just have a sold-out opening like last time.
We GlassTards finally got to see the Act I plays, which were a delight. Someone did a great job with choosing the songs for the segues. There was much chair dancing to The Monkees while Words,Words,Words was setting up. Universal Language is precious beyond description. The show finally feels whole, with one unified company.
By the way, if you’re attending Davis Square’s ArtBeat 2004 (and why wouldn’t you?), we will be performing Universal and Glass on Saturday 7/17 at Jimmy Tingle’s Off-Broadway at 3:45 PM as part of the festival showcase. I really wish they would let us do all of the plays, but I suppose that’s what the whole concept of “teaser” is about.
Cocktail party at Steph’s tonight (must remember to bring show fliers), then on to opening weekend.
