Yesterday was dedicated to helping stage a wonderfully successful yard sale at Benjamin’s. I was up early making posters and tacking them to neighborhood trees (Note to self: grab some of those down on the way to work). It was the hottest and stickiest day imaginable, but customers came in numerous rushes from the ads we’d posted less than 24 hours prior. This was The Impromptu Yard Sale. The all-day stream of cash flow (and blueberry juice) kept us cheerful in the hot sun, and by 4:00 PM Benjamin had earned enough to pay for his Mexico flight ticket, with more to spare.

I have an essay to write about the objects of a person's life laid out on the lawn; a transient museum of a life. How much insight they offer into personal history...

The delightful reward for a great day’s work was the breezy evening spent on the porch at The New Neighborhood (the home of friends around the corner), sharing potluck dinner and songs to the merry strains of Lou’s guitar. Passers by were greeted with "Happy Sunday!" Those who responed got the thumb's up. Those who didn't were symbolically detonated. It was 10:00 PM before I forced myself home for much needed sleep. All of Somerville gets a high-five for a day as well spent as this.

A bit sun burnt and as freckled as The Farmer’s Daughter, I now depart for my fantastic new job, and a startlingly high-paying focus group tonight. :-)
