Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)
Jun. 28th, 2005 05:08 pmThis is a bizzare request.
I wish I could take the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), a personality analysis test whereby the subject is shown a selection of pictures (generally containing at least one person) designed to "stimulate stories or descriptions about relationships or social situations and can help identify dominant drives, emotions, sentiments, conflicts and complexes." I want to take it because, quite simply, it would be fun. And if ever there was a test just for me, it would be one that involved generating stories from random stimulus, which I do on a near-constant basis when not doing anything else.
However, the test can't be taken online (at least not for free) and is generally administered by a mental health professional or corporate HR. Not very easily accessible, since I'm not in therapy and I don't think any shrink would indulge my request "because it would be fun." (and I'm not asking corporate HR!) So I thought I'd try a very informal version, just for fun. Here's my request to any who would be so good as to help:
1) Post an image in reply below that contains at least 1 person, but no text whatsoever. It can be a photo, illustration, drawing, or anything else, just so long as it contains 1 or more humans (not celebrities, well-known cartoon characters, politicians, or anyone I would likely know of)
2) Post it in reply here using the img src= tag so that everyone else can see. Make no other comment, and don't use the subject line.
3) I will, per the TAT description, generate a story or description based on my perception of that picture. Maybe we will see a pattern. Then maybe you can try in your LJ.
Pix only, no other posts til later. And thanks!
