Being born on December 27 was one of the worst strokes of luck for me, as far as birthday socialization goes. 12/27 is a flat-out miserable birthday for anyone living in a Christmas/Western New Years celebrating community. Not that I don't celebrate those, but I'd also like to celebrate my birthday if that were possible, which it generally isn't.

December 27 is in that blackout zone between the two holidays, when everyone is tapped out from Christmas, and shoring up their energy for New Years. They're busy returning gifts, after xmas shopping, and everythingother than thinking about birthdays. At least half of my friends are out of town then, and of those remaining, no one has the energy or time to go out. I used to yell at my mother that she should squeezed tighter and kept me in there until after New Years. I'm not a quiet-dinner-with-one-or-two-friends kind of birthday girl. I like to party.

So I'm re-assigning myself to an unofficial new birthday of January 6. Why then? Because I like the number 6. And because the holidays are over. Yes, I know it's Orthodox Christmas, but I don't know any Orthodox Christians. It's still in Capricorn, just 10 days further into it. An this year it's on a Friday.

January 6 birthday party announcement to come. :-)
