An Alternative Davis Square LJ Community

davis_square community. although that community is exceptionally useful and I've made real-world friends from it, it is lorded over by a tyrannical nut case who:
A) Does not live in Davis, nor even Somerville
B) Makes participation unpleasant and unfriendly with her bevy of ironfist "rules"
C) Does not participate herself, other than to weild her ax
I want to start a general Davis community that does allow uncut roommate ads, text ads for services offered by Davis residents, and all of the normal networking of a local community. The only thing I would require to be kept under cut would be flyers or photos. However, those cut flyers and photos would indeed be welcome.
The very essense of a community, whether real-world or cyber, is the exchange of goods, services, ideas, and resources. That sometimes involves money and there's nothing wrong with that. If we as humans had no need for community, we'd each find a secluded cave in which to live free of human contact or inter-dependence.
I want an LJ community where people who live, work, or spend social time in Davis are free to communicate about any and all worksafe Davis-related topics, in a friendly and affirmative atmosphere. I will probably call it "davis_people".
I haven't officially set it up yet. I would like to find a co-moderator, perferably one who possess more design talent than I do, who can lay it out attractively before opening to the public. I have the time to manage it from the administrative end and have been a mod to very large EZboard communities in the past. It would need to be someone who wants to participate and be present as a member as well as a mod, as I will be -- none of this Remote Rule by control freaks with no vested interest in Davis.
