This past weekend was of the delightful red-letter variety that makes me glad that, well, that I didn't die back in college or step in front of that oncoming truck or choose the wrong doomed flight – really just glad that I lived long enough to make it to this past weekend.

Friday began with the happy discovery that my long-awaited bonus check had come through. Not a ginormous amount, to be sure, but enough that I was able to cover some nagging winter bills. Now [livejournal.com profile] vanguardcdk and I are 100% caught up on our horrifying electric bill, and are on a payment plan for gas bill.

Later that evening, Andy and I spent a few hours at the lovely Gargoyle's. It was pleasant spending time together, as always. There's a big bubble of dating meta there that I won't go into now. Yes I will. No I won't, that's a whole 'nother post. However, I think I've sold him on the Utilikilt idea, which is a good start. ;-)

Saturday goes down in history as a certifiably perfect day. In the morning I met for the first time with my new client, for whom I will be doing some hopefully-ongoing freelance editing and writing. He had two smaller projects and one very large project that he signed me on for, and he even gave me an advance, which I wouldn’t have dreamed of asking for. The work will be fun, especially writing the marketing spin for his line of import products, and for the month of May, at least, my income will increase by 50%.

The cast spent the afternoon at [livejournal.com profile] gilana's house having lunch and running lines. You Can't Take It With You opens this coming weekend, ready or not, but the extra line-running was helpful. I hung around chatting for a while until it was time to get ready for.....

The Davis Square Zombie March was the mostest funnest time, in a beautifully retarded way. [livejournal.com profile] pheromone, [livejournal.com profile] urban_faerie_ and I joined forces and got hotly zombified, then headed over to the square just in time to have missed the beginning of the march. It took some rather un-zombielike sprinting to catch up to the undead heard, but we finally did. As I said to [livejournal.com profile] pheromone, I think you burn extra calories when you walk with a flailing lurch. We made it to The Celler, between Harvard and Central Squares, and joined the creative and startlingly diverse zombie mob for a drink. There are many photo links and reports from the zombie front here.

I made a new zombie friend – the dashingly undead [livejournal.com profile] mistergoat (freshly added to my f'list!) who invited us to a vegan party back in the Davis area. They were a lovely bunch of folks, and are to be lauded for their tolerance at having a trio of brain-eaters invade their midst. Vegans are yummy, but out of courtesy we stuck to corn-on-the-cob and cookies.

Sunday I spent the morning working on the new freelance project, then headed over to the church for a dress run through of the show. I have more fun using my character's accent offstage than I do onstage. [livejournal.com profile] gilana saved our future audience from a Sharon Stone moment with a bit of discreet advice about how I should(n't) sit. My fellow Rrrrrussian, [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen, is a total rock star. You definitely need to see the show just so you can watch how elegantly and authoritatively we spit.

After rehearsal, about a dozen of us migrated over to El Guapo to load up on Tex Mex and big drinks in deep glasses. Lots of laughs, (Hey Jude and Rob, I still don't fuckin' care!) and a very full tummy later, it was time to finally relax and call it an outstanding weekend. May there be many more like these.

Tonight will be good, too. Another full run of the show, and then Bourdain is on! (*floaty hearts and love lasers*)
