Articles and Antichrists
Jun. 5th, 2006 12:25 pmMr. Client liked yesterday's article, and I only needed to do one small round of edits. All my kvetching and melodramatics about the articles being un-fun to write -- it almost slipped my mind that I'm getting $100 a pop for these, and I have 9 more to do. That's going to help a lot. A bit more attitude of gratitude is in order for Our Heroine, methinks. And the Argentine teas I'm writing about are damn delicious.

A remake of The Omen opens tomorrow, on 6/6/2006. How do I feel about one of the greatest horror films of all times being regurgitated for the modern viewer? The same way I've felt about the whole aughts-thing spate of hobbling jokes called remakes that insulted their source material. In short: DON'T FUCK WITH A CLASSIC. I feel the same way about karaoke-like song covers that add absolutely nothing. To be sure, I love a unique treatment of a song, especially when it's carried across a genre border or two. But every time I hear Gwen Stefani whining It's My Life into a Mr. Microphone, I wish I was listening to the perfect Talk Talk original instead. The way I see it, if you're unable to improve a movie or song by remaking it, then don't remake it. Will I see The Omen? Yeah probably. Just so I can say I was right.
