beowabbit and I had a cozy, quiet evening last night, which was just what I wanted given the damp weather. We went grocery shopping near his home in Quincy, first exploring a specialty food and bakery store called Fruit Basket. I noticed the sign as we were pulling into the parking lot, but the same sign had fallen under his radar for the whole time he's lived in Quincy. (I have a talent for scouting out interesting things in other people's neighborhoods). We ended up with treats we never knew we needed but couldn't live without.
beowabbit discovered how much he loves cream puffs (real ones, not just the human kind!).
We finished our shopping and headed to his house to make shepherd's pie. It came out delicious, in spite of our recipe-less wing it approach. Hot and homey comfort food -- the next pot luck I go to might see this recreated. Yum. Later we watched the movie
The Forgotten, which held our attention quite well.
It was a foody kind of weekend. After getting ourselves out of bed for diner breakfast, we walked along Quincy Shore for as long as the cold would let us, then headed to a ginormous Asian store complex the size of a mall. We wore ourselves out in the huge supermarket, picking out our favorites and trying intriguing new things. There are an awful lot of vegetables, fruits, and meats that I never knew existed. This place stocked things I've never even seen in Chinatown.
beowabbit bought me lawn furniture! Actually balcony furniture. Mine was falling apart, and me to (insert home improvement store name escaping my mind) where he got me four chairs and two end tables. Shiny new and freshly installed on my balcony! I want to make him curtains or something else for his home.
A delight of a weekend, thanks to my sweet sweetie!
