I CAN HAS TERKAI PLZ NOW?
Nov. 24th, 2007 08:59 amIt would be easier if traditional Thanksgiving food was something that cats don't like. Really, I can't even open the refrigerator without Rowley screaming like he hasn't been fed in a week, and Benjamin trying to climb into the lower shelf where the leftover turkey is. They are completely turkey-crazed. They even go nuts at the smell of stuffing or the crackle of foil, because it reminds them of turkey.
They've been getting their share, though. This year's leftover distribution was much less wasteful than last year. I asked guests to all bring a tupperware or two in which to take home doggie bags. They did, and then
beowabbit and I split up the remainder, creating perfect amounts that we actually can hope to finish off. I'm having some cornbread and butter for breakfast.
Friday morning we finished up the cleaning and went to see Beowulf. Critics be damned, I enjoyed it very much and so did he. The animation is spectacular. It does take some narrative liberties, but that rarely doesn't happen when translating literature to film. And as we were saying on the way out, critics bristle at liberties being taken with great literature, but Beowulf is folk literature, of the people, created for the purpose of entertainment rather than pure historical recording. So, too, is this movie. Go see it -- it's a treat.
