Did You Know...
Jun. 17th, 2009 12:02 pm...that The Whig Party has been resurrected? It has, and it currently has 30,000 members and recently saw it's first poll victory in a county election. I never knew about them until last week or so.
In a very compact nutshell, they are socially progressive, fiscally conservative, and identify as a mainstream moderate alternative to what they feel is increasing extremism in the Republican and Democratic parties. They were started by stationed military personnel and Iraq/Afghanistan veterans who want what they believe is a sensible, practical middle ground to serve as a new political home for those no longer comfortable with their party. I just now noticed that their animal is the owl. :-)
Just posting because I thought this would be of interest to my centrist friends.
