plumtreeblossom: (good times)
This morning I was so sick that I had to go to the hospital. Yesterday's unexplainably severe cough turned out to be a very poorly timed case of acute bronchitis. The doctor/nurses have no way of knowing whether I'm contagious, since bronchitis is sometimes viral and sometimes the grand finale of a cold or flu. [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit left work and took a taxi to Somerville Hospital to be with me and help me home, because he is the best boyfriend in the universe, and [livejournal.com profile] vanguardcdk gave me $20 for my taxi to the hospital because I had not enough cash. I was X-rayed and examined and given a prescription for anti-biotics, which may do nothing if I have the non-virus form, some cough syrup with Codeine, and fancy Ibuprofen. There's nothing more that can be done for bronchitis -- I'll have to ride it out. We got the prescrips filled and went home in the wind and rain.

The cough is unimaginably bad. This morning I coughed my way to a nosebleed, and now my head is throbbing. My chest and ribs are in agony. You don't want to hear my voice. The timing couldn't have been worse.

As you can see, I'm not at final dress rehearsal right now. The cough is unsupressable (really), and I'm onstage from start to finish of War of the Worlds. My part is being covered by the other 4 foley artists, and I'm heartbroken. It's entirely possible that I won't be able perform opening night tomorrow. Worst possibility: I won't be able to perform the entire run.

And of course this has to be the week where I've gotten 7 (SEVEN) invitations to job interviews after a month of getting none. I did 3 yesterday coughing and hacking away (I hope I gave that A-hole boss my disease!). One of them was even a precious MIT gig, but they needed someone who could start tomorrow, and I won't be well by then. As I say, the timing was straight from hell.

So, I may or may not see a lot of you at the show. I've emitted about 200 coughs in the time it took to write this, and will probably have to "sleep" sitting up, which is never really sleep for me. This is a true suckfest.
