Joined in Love

I'm just home from officiating my very first wedding. It went wonderfully, joyfully, simply and movingly. The sweet bride and groom had tears of love for each other in their eyes. In my new robes, I felt confident and dignified, even if a rookie. I was even able to help things flow smoothly before the ceremony. So amazing -- expertise I've gained from so many past endeavors and careers all came back like helpful ghosts. Stage management, acting, admin, hostessing, writing.... those tools were all there for me.

My heart is so happy tonight!

This dear young couple is off to a joyful start. I'm still absorbing how good it felt to be a key part of that process. I hope I can do hundreds and hundreds more.

Things have been professionally rough for me and my self-esteem for a while now. But this much I know: I am something, and I can make wonderful things happen that are needed and wanted.

In time I will be able to make this a part-time career or more, even if in retirement. In less time, I will have my BA, and my freedom from the handicaps endured without it. I am both young and 46-years enriched, and that's a better place than a lot of people would have you, or me, believe.

No matter how much corporate rejection and discrimination has been thrown at me, they can do nothing to stop me from being awesome.
