I think the abrupt rise in temperature impacted me badly. Since October, my body has been accustomed to cold, and this sweltering heat sort of knocked me for a loop. I know, you people who live in actually-hot places will snort when I call 82F "sweltering heat," but I'm a pasty Yankee who sweats when it's in the 60s. I was dizzy and dehydrated this afternoon, and in spite of a floppy hat and umbrella, I got too much sun on Sunday watching the parade.
But any suffering incurred pales when compared to
beowabbit's staggering cough. My heart hurt for him because there was nothing at all I could do to help. It isn't a nagging little cough. I was worried that he's break a major blood vessel, it was so violent. But he got some rest, and is possibly seeing a doctor at MIT tomorrow, so he's holding it together.
In other news, my big strawberry planter ripped it's hanger right out of the wall and came crashing down. It's made of fabric so nothing broke, but there's a hole where it ripped the screw out of the wall. It's now hanging on an identical hook put up at the same time, and we'll see if it can "hang in there" (harr harr) until something sturdier can be installed. I'm afraid to water the thing.
The tomato hangers were a big fail. Avoid the brand Buzzy if you're buying hanging planters. Today was the day they were to go upside down. On one of them, the rim it hangs by simply disintegrated. The other one is precariously hanging, but I suspect one watering and it two will fall apart. S'okay, I have 7 other tomato plants. But these would have been fun. No off-brands next time.
Gawd, it's still so hot! I am actually drinking a beer, which I hardly ever do because of my tiny bladder, but the heat come to that. I hope we get the thunderstorm that was predicted.
