Arriveth July
Jul. 1st, 2004 10:58 amYesterday's cold was here and gone so fast that I’m tempted not to count it against my perfect 3-year no-colds record. I’m feeling much better today, as are the other Glassies who suffered the wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am cold. Our first dry run went surprisingly well last night. There were multiple small slip-ups, but the other casts apparently couldn’t detect them, aside from our not-there-yet cheerleading sequence. I got to see Philadelphia again, and the brilliant Trotsky for the first time. I still haven’t seen any of the Act I plays, but hopefully that will happen next week at the tech runs.
I've invited over 70 people to the show. < jewish mother> Let's see who loves me and who does not...

I’m trying not to dwell on the fact that several very wonderful people will be moving away by this Fall. Some of them forever, some maybe not forever, but all of them will leave a bittersweet vacancy in my day-to-day world. I’m trying to rouse myself into the spirit of their forthcoming adventures and new lives, and the wonderful ways their lives will be changed and enriched. I’m an insatiable travel buff myself, but I’m not one to fully relocate unless absolutely necessary. On the one hand, it’s exciting to have friends living all over the world, and I do treasure my long-distance friendships just as much as my local ones. Still, a phone call is different from a hug, a long letter is different from a night out at a pub. Both good, but distinctly different. Carpe diem, I say to myself; they’re here now. Make the most of this promising summer. Still, this has been My Year of Hellos and Goodbyes. I’ve made more new friends in these past 6 months than I have in the last 6 years, and the brevity of my time in the same world location with some of them can make me blue if I think about it too ponderingly. Ah, but we have a show to do, and a Today to be lived for. And I do love writing those long, rambling letters to friends afar...

Date: 2004-07-01 08:57 am (UTC)"Part! Got! Congratulations! You've Got Congratulations! Part Got You!"
But I think it's thoroughly appropriate that I be the one to offer
