THE WEEK 'AFORE - in which the following occurred:
* Recognized and accepted that the new job was a soul-corroding spider web of politics, ennui, and discord, and that my energy is not needed there now or ever. For the first time in my life, I didn't resign myself to trudging along stoically until I, too, was reduced to a chaotic haystack of hostile misery. I turned in my two weeks notice. They allowed me to leave without serving it, and I accepted a decent-paying temp position downtown until I can find a job where I can give my strengths in a way that benefits both employer and employee.
* Got my belly-button pierced. To celebrate my birthday (3 months ago), to beautify, and to make friends with a part of my body I've never adored. Looking forward to the naked-midriff days of summer.
* Saw Secret Window and Hellboy with friends. Neither rocked my world, but sometimes critiquing a sub-sublime movie is as enjoyable as
raving over a movie-of-a-lifetime. Oh, and there was the Asian soccer movie that I didn't really pay attention to. I was just in it for the great company.
*Received the new computer by UPS. Setup is still in progress, but suffice it to say I'm getting through it with minimal melodrama on my part.
THE WEEK HENCE - in which the following are expected to
occur:
*Set clocks ahead 1 hour on Saturday night for Daylight
Savings Time.
*Brunch at Christy & Elka's Sunday morning.
*Finish computer switchover.
*Compile notes thus far for the Edgar Allan Poe play.
*See touring production of Othello at the Emerson Majestic with Elizabeth, Jason, and Maitland.
* Organization, meditation, fortitude and focus.
