plumtreeblossom: (wildflowers)

My wildflower seeds have become seedlings. When they first started poking through the ground, they all looked the same, but now after a week above ground they're taking on distinct baby-characteristics of their species. In 6-8 weeks I should be getting my first blossoms. I adore them and tend them with loving love and feel like an Earth Goddess when I go out to check them every morning.

Now I'm obsessed. I never knew gardening was fun. I've decided that in the fall I'm going to plant a row of hollyhocks behind the wildflowers, up against the front of the house. Hollyhocks are giant 7-foot flowers, very Alice In Wonderland. All this in a yard the size of two dining room tables, with the front walk and stairs up the middle. Very typical Somerville micro-yard. But people here do some amazing things with them. I hope mine is going to be amazing, too.
