citylife, out of curiosity I clicked on the OP's Russian language LJ. This was a complete stranger who I'd never seen before, who lives in Monaco. To my utter bewilderment, there on his LJ and on his profile page was a performance photo of me, mangosteen and kalliejenn2 from Theatre@First's festival play Cabfare For The Common Man. You could have written WTF in 10-foot letters and it wouldn't have matched my sheer bewilderment.
Embarassingly long story short: after a good 20 minutes of BabelFishing and general goose-chasing, I finally figured it out that this was a linking trick that randomly grabs one of the images of the logged-in viewer, presuming they have any images. (The image link shows up broken if you try it logged out).
The guy really had me going there, though. I was ready to post here looking for insight from any of my Russian speaking friends (draft post title "Why Is Someone Keeping The Meter Running?") So that's what I've been doing with the last hour of my life. Thanks for the big "D'oh," Monaco guy!
