Last night Beckie asked me who it was she'd seen me lunching with at Diva on Sunday. It was nobody you'll be hearing more about, as it happened. I've met many fascinating, fun people on CraigsList, but this just wasn't one. Unlike most, whom I met through my CraigsList activity group, this was an actual "date," and before long I was wishing it wasn't.

E-mail chemistry bears absolutely no connection to face-to-face chemistry, or the lack thereof. He was unkind to our waiter (an automatic strikeout in my book), was very judgemental difficult to converse with, and hadn't taken care of his teeth (don't call me superficial on that -- it's as important to health as it is to aesthetic ends). I was far more captivated with my plate of Indian goodies than with my dining partner. I paid for the meal since I'd asked that we meet in my neighborhood. I generally pay the bill when I don't plan to see someone again.

Thank you for playing, please sign the guestbook on your way out.

The Murder In The Cathedral read-thru was exciting. Of the cast of 24, I only know 8, all the others being new colleagues and hopefully friends. There was a crackling energy in the room, aided by the crisp autumn coolness in an assembly of people raring to go. Many are new to theatre or are prodigal sons and daughters of the stage returning after years of absence. The chorus has a staggering number of lines. This will be my biggest T@F challenge yet.
