plumtreeblossom: (yes we can)

I have so much to say about this election, more than I could possibly get out in a post. I think I could write a book-length work about my own journey through this election process, everything it has taught me, and how it has changed me as a person and as an American.

I don't think anyone reading doesn't know I'm a firm and enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama. My endorsement isn't worth beans, but he has it nonetheless. Never before have I believed so solidly in a political candidate, and my life has been altered for the better because I've had the opportunity to support him, donate, and raise funds. I've learned the effectiveness of bottom-up management and have already applied to other areas of my life. This campaign has taught me that I do make a difference, and that I can be a part of the solution. I'm going to my polling place at 7:00 AM tomorrow morning. I'd go even if there was a raging ice storm. I'd go if I had to crawl.

I know some of you have chosen a different candidate to support, and that's fine, I'm not going to argue about anyone's choices. What I do know is that it has been an uplifting honor to support Barack Obama, and come Thanksgiving, I know what I'm going to be thankful for, win or lose.

But I think we can win.

Please vote tomorrow if you haven't been able to vote early. Even if you're not in a battleground state, please stay in the line, talk to your boss about missing some hours if you have to, don't give up or say that your vote doesn't matter. It absolutely does.

Flashback to 2004: This is the post I wrote the day after Kerry lost to Bush. At that time, some of us were in a production of Murder In The Cathedral, and the thread is full of fittingly chilling quotes from the play. We can change the outcome to one of joy this time.

Yes, We Can.
