TWO SENSAI

1) Sensai Wretched

God sent you,
December 2003,
to remind me of everything I don’t want.
I recoiled,
But God gripped the back of my head hard
and ordered:
"Look down the pit! Know your antithesis."
I obeyed, and you were at the damp, dark bottom.
You, chewing your vodka straw, yelling at waiters.
I could smell the reek
of the festering corpse of your dead soul,
even as I averted my eyes
from the purple-red chicken skin
of your old-man neck.
Devoid of all light, elderly at only 44.
Trying to convince me I was insane,
and that only you could cure me
with the ministrations of your beggar-vampire flesh.
But instead, Sensai Wretch,
your lesson reminded me why I’ve waited,
why I will never yeild myself
to the lifeless ilk of you.
Your walking death pall let me see my own beauty,
my everlasting youth,
my power.
Your yellow teeth bit,
but you never got one precious drop
of my sacred
Blood.


2) Sensai Beautiful Comet

God sent you,
February 2004,
to remind me of the goodness and love and light
in this universe.
God whispered:
“Look to the night sky, beloved girl.
Know you are not alone.”
I did, and you were shining there.
A new yet familiar light, glowing back at my own star.
Dearest celestial heart,
who loves with a gentle and innocent soul.
Who embraces strangers,
who talks to toy animals,
who reflects summer in your smile.
Who paints with words
in a notebook where I drew a dove for you
to bring you peace.
So rich in love, rich beyond the wildest dreams
of those who measure life
in artificial units, in stones of possession.
You were, you are, God’s reminder
of why I wait
only for those with a light as bright as my own.
Beautiful Sensai Comet,
sent across my sky.
Carry my warmth with you always,
wherever the galaxy
takes you.
