Great Lesson With Lou

OK, now I know who I'll be studying guitar with.
I had my first lesson with Lou last night. I couldn't believe the difference in productivity, and how much faster I was able to absorb when I didn't have to half-lead the lesson as before. This is going to work well.
The first thing he did was test me pretty comprehensively about what I already know. As far as he was concerned, I knew enough to dive right into playing chord progressions and songs, and by the end of the session we were jamming together. He also got me started on some formal theory, which is new to me. I've always done everything by ear, but this will teach me the mechanics of what I've been doing, and how to do it better. He's also an advocate of all students jumping into songwriting right from the start. I hadn't been planning on that, but hey, I write dirty limmericks all the time -- songs might be fun too. Lou's the goods.
I like Grace, but at our lessons I wasn't so much learning as listening to her and then trying to teach it to myself, and it didn't motivate me to practice very much. After the lesson with Lou, I was so amped when I came home that I played for another hour by myself and downloaded some lyrics with chords of songs I want to learn.
