High Five

We went to a fabulous, fabulous party last night -- a bon voyage for [livejournal.com profile] srakkt, who will be deploying to Afghanistan shortly with the Marine Reserves. I had the best time I've had at a party in ages. (Recently I haven't so much been enjoying the parties I've been going to, but this one reminded me that they can still be great fun with the right mix of people.) Lots and lots of Firsties, and there was even an appearance by a Firstie 2.0, now six months old and very much a party girl.

[livejournal.com profile] srakkt, we're so proud of you. Thank you for what you're doing, and I look forward to more high fives when you come home safe and sound!

Wonderful Weekend

It was over much too quickly, but this was definitely a weekend's worth of happy memories being made.

My sweet [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit gifted me with my first portable MP3 player and yet another cool book! Whither goeth [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit, so goeth gadgets and gizmos, and he is molding me in his image! *kiss*

[livejournal.com profile] pheromone's parties are always a blast, and this one was no exception. She turned her apartment into a beach so that party-goers could show up in skimpy summer attire in winter-y March. My boyfriend and I both wore sarongs. :-) He even danced. And sang. It happened right around the time that pigs flew over the house, and when the mysterious ice sheets covering Hell were pronounced safe for skating. Lots of sexy people kept us out way past bedtime. More surprising still -- I made it home with my shoes on.

In the morning, after taking care of some unfinished bidness, we cooked up bacon and eggs, broke into the cryogenic pumpkin pie, and had breakfast al fresco on the balcony! Ah, the dawn of spring. It was so delightful to be soaking up sunshine over a tasty meal. This needs to happen more as the weather gets warmer.

I had a Theatre@First meeting in the afternoon, and Wabbit hopped over to Diesel to do online-y things. The meeting was productive and it was great to see everyone. We have a fantastic summer one-act festival planned for you.

Afterwards he swung by to collect me, and we were off to see 300. Neither of us had gotten the memo about the correct time, so we were a few minutes late meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] barodar, [livejournal.com profile] joyeous, and [livejournal.com profile] _mattt, who saved seats for us. Onscreen, heads rolled and chest-muscles rippled. We wound down afterwards with drinks and snackies at a nearby restaurant, unseemly conversation ensuing. Just the way I like it.

I'll have another weekend like that, please!

Dinners, Gifts, and The Jim Show

Tuesday after Diesel, I had an extremely fun dinner with [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit, [livejournal.com profile] joyeous, [livejournal.com profile] barodar, and our new friend Damon (don't know if he's on LJ, but vee haf vays of making heem join). I'd never had an actual full meal at The Burren before, and in fact I keep forgetting that it's ever anything but a hangout for Tuft's kids. Yummy food and great company, and best fries evAR. (which would be "chips" in the UK, but the menu called them fries). Damon gave Wabbit and me a ride to my house, since it was as cold as the Kuiper Belt. Having access to a Wabbit in winter is a thing to be most thankful for. :-)

On Wednesday, I came home to a mysterious package from my mother. It was narrow and almost 4 feet long, and I couldn't imagine what it might be. Upon opening it, I got the awesome surprise of:

The Women Writers Umbrella!

Isn't that cool? Jane Austen, Mary Shelly, Emily Dickinson... I hadn't been expecting a gift since it's nowhere near my birthday or anything, and I called to thank her. She said she just saw it in a paper catalogue and though I would like it. I definitely do. My Mommy rocks!

Last night, [livejournal.com profile] vanguardcdk and I got an all-too-rare visit from [livejournal.com profile] jimmystagger. There needs to be an army of Jimmystaggers so that everyone can have one. Ostensibly he'd come over so I could help him revamp his OKCupid profile (which we'd originally scheduled for Monday but I was still under the weather), but mostly he just treated me and CDK to The Inimitable Jim Show. We barely had to talk at all -- Jimmy has enough stories to keep 10,000 campfires entertained. And we found punk rock personals! Ladies, look for him there once his new photos are taken!

Mark your calendars, kids... BV returns to Johnny D's on Saturday, September 16!

Everybody's favorite disco tribute band is coming, and you need to free your mind so your ass will follow! I'll be there with [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit and hopefully many others. The music starts around 10PM. Come join us, and bring all your friends!
