A Rainy Friday Out

Thank you to pheromone and her roomies for the excellent early Halloween party last night. I was surprised at how many people came up with elaborate costumes this early in the season. I put shamefully little energy into my costuming due to having little time and even less money. Just a long gothy dress that I've had forever, some jewelry, a bit more make-up than usual, and called it Halloween wear.

For the vegan Batgirl hostess, I baked a vegan Chocolate Chambord Cake. I wasn't hungry at the party and thus forgot all about the cake after I dropped it off at the food table. If anyone reading this tried some, let me know how it came out!

I was quite well behaved at this party, for someone with a big frozen strawberry 'rita that was replenished twice. I got acquainted with the lovely n0ire, whom it turns out I met maybe three years ago at a party of her own.

Today I'm home sewing for Merry Wives, staying out of the rain and thinking about ordering some Chinese for lunch. Tomorrow -- first full run thru of the show.

The cake was fantastic! In fact, thorbol and I want the recipe. Of course, this doesn't mean we'll be able to replicate your results, since our oven is jinxed when it comes to cakes: even if the flavor comes out OK, they usually fall apart, and we end up with nothing but crumbs.

I'll send you the recipe! I converted it to vegan with soy milk and egg vegan egg replacer, but I can send you the original version that uses eggs and dairy.
