'Tis A Merry Night

The run ended last night on the highest of high notes. We played to another packed house, and they were as warm and receptive as the previous night's house. My nerves finally settled, I was able to work it just like the old days (of 2 weeks ago). What a wonderful feeling it was to be enjoying it, fully grounded and confident in the character again.
And what a wonderful feeling to close with our very best show. :-)
I forgot to point it out to everyone, but we had a celeb in the house. Bobby Blue, an internationally noted poet, was there in the front row with his wife. They were the couple wearing bright blue sitting mere inches from stage left. I snuck glances at them and they seemed to be enjoying themselves thoroughly.
A photo shoot followed, then a fine cast party at the home of
heliopsis. Tequilla seems to have become the official T@F drink of choice. Perhaps we should put it in the next program. It was great being together with everyone late into the night.
There is no end to the raves I'm hearing for
derspatchel. The man belongs on the professional stage (though I'm glad we've got him). I've been doing the stage mother thing with him lately and encouraging him to consider auditioning for some professional non-Equity paying gigs. He doubts his suitability, but all who have seen him onstage disagree.
And the gerbil wheel turns, turns, turns. I had to hightail to out at 11:30 this morning to meet and rehearse with the accompanist for the cabaret. I dragged a very hung over me to the church, knowing I'd be in bad voice. But everyone sounds good in the sanctuary, and it gave me all the false confidence I needed to work the songs through in full belt.
We have the phenomenal Show 6 on digital video! And most of Show 5. Now if someone can please direct me to where I can get it transferred onto DVD or VHS (preferably DVD), we can have another get together and puppy-pile ourselves on someone's couch to watch. We need to have another party!
