I try to navigate this play,
this play which is
a musical math problem
to be solved by four
voices.

On my bedroom floor
I listen to the trigonometric staccato
of Einstein On The Beach,
trying to grasp its aural arithmetic.

A composer asking:
What is the sound
of a scientific mind?
Philip filled a Glass
with that prismatic sound.

Only by envisioning these ear-numerals
can I begin to commit them
to memory.
This play is an algebraic mind gym.
The four voices as gears,
the lines as numbered teeth,
interdependent.
The gears rotate together
to generate a song-play.

An equation
answered in soundscape.
