This Week In The Plumtree Branches

I finally got around to filling out my Myspace account and adding some friends. (if you're over there, let me know -- I already have Dej and Ari). Aside from the handy band blogs, I'm failing to see any marked advantage their system has over the more traditional blog sites like LJ, Blogspot, Xanga, etc. I keep hearing phrases like "the phenomenon of Myspace" and "the Myspace miracle" -- is it the next messiah? Maybe for a certain kind of user, like people creating themed magazine-style blogs who want millions of readers. For personal blogs though, it's a bit cluttered and inconvenient to navigate. But, I'll be cross-posting some of my better LJ posts over there for now. I'll see how I like it. (not leaving LJ, of course).

I like how my hair came out. That's unusual -- I'm accustomed to despising whatever happens to my hair in a salon, which is why it had been 6 years since my last sit in the chair of hair doom. I remember the tearful teenage car rides home after butcherings by squatty middle-aged hairdressers in suburban "beauty shops" -- my mother tried desperately for years to turn me into a short-hair person. It always meant weeks of adjusting to looking like absolute hell until it grew out. This time was surprisingly different. I like the stripe-y goodness of the two-tone color, and the layered cut that optimizes the curly factor. She wasn't able to style it -- a straight-haired person can NOT style curly hair (
hammercock,
lifecollage, and
quilla, you know what I mean). So we gave up on that and I just went home and styled it me'ownself. Liking it. :-)

I was just treated to lunch by
lillibet at Urban Gourmet. If only men knew how much women talk about sex. It's the subject that never ends, unlike the act itself.

As it turns out, I won't have a new cell phone for another week and a half. There were some bills that couldn't wait, so instead the phone will have to wait 'til next pay cycle. Not that I use it very much -- I'm decidedly not a phone person. But needing to find a pay phone to call a cab is an anachronistic suck-thing. Me wants a Crackberry, but I'm not going to get one. Just another phone-phone. In the mean time, e-mail me.
