That Was Weird

A little while ago today I answered the phone without bothering to look at the caller ID because I was busy with something else. The connection was scratchy, and I heard what I presumed was pheromone's usual "Hey..." greeting.

I launched into our standard chatter, complete with "Can you fuckin' believe...." and "Oh my fucking God listen to this..." and "It's right there on LiveJournal, didn't you see?" She was just answering with ummms and yeahs. But then she asked what LiveJournal was.

Oh. No.

It wasn't Jude, it was an acquaintence who I haven't seen in more than two years, and barely knew even then.

I must have turned six shades of green. It was one of those moments where you have to make a split second decision whether to say "OH!! It's YOU! Hahaha silly me!" or to try coast through the error without acknowledging it. I have no idea why I opted for the later. It then was one of the most awkward conversation I've ever had, because I was pretending that I'd known who it was all along.

She wasn't calling for any particular purpose. I kept hoping she get to the point to ease the awkwardness, but there was no point. It just went on. And on. I finally said I had to go now, and good to catch up.

If it makes you feel any better... Just after graduating high school I was staying at my parents house for the summer. My 'then' boyfriend called the house one day and mistook my mother for me. When she picked up the phone and said hello, he blurted out "EAT ME!" Yeah, Mike was strange but the look on my mother's face was priceless!

Thank God you're not prone to gossipping about one to the other. That could have been messy *scrunching nose while smiling*!
