Commonwealth Shakespeare's production this year is going to be Taming of The Shrew. That should be a fun romp, and definitely worth organizing the annual big group outing for. But once again I didn't get my way -- every year I always hope their selection will be Antony and Cleopatra. Ostensibly because I've never seen it performed, but really because I want to have an Egyptian Picnic.

In thinking of Shrew picnic themes, I guess we'll just have to settle for "PMS foods." Chocolate, ice cream, chocolate... what else?

Really, when they do the comedies, that's when I enjoy their work the most... so I'm really looking forward to this year.

It's not PMS food, but I'd put in a vote for pistachios. I find them icky, but it's what I thought Petruchio's name was when I first read the play back in elementary school. Alternatively, you could always do something very very bitter. Or spicy.

Or there are lady fingers, angel food cake, and devil's food cake.

In addition to chocolate (preferably combined with peanut butter), PMS requires massive amounts of comfort food. Macaroni and cheese and the like--not that cold mac & cheese is a good choice for a picnic.
