May. 7th, 2004 11:01 amI went to Newton last night for meditation group at the home of Premananda and Liz. I’m glad I made the effort to go out there. Apparently they knew how disappointed I’d been at the cancellation of the Aum circle, so just for me, they invited some other swami friends to replace the classmates who had refused to participate. Then we had enough for circle. Aum circle is a powerful intonation ritual that I’d wanted learn about and try, and I had some great teachers last night. I enjoyed getting to know the new swamis. I love how their joyful banter is peppered with Yiddish.
I’ve been, and am, so grateful for the presence of Liz in my life. She talked privately with me for a long time last night, let me cry the blackness out and refill with light. She and the example her life provides are the reason I can keep going and maintain hope. In the year that I’ve known her, she has become my friend, my rabbi, and the big sister I’ve always wished for.
