I GOT THE JOB!
I just found out today. I’m being brought onboard at Big-Enormous-Uber-Publishing-House (actual name of BEUPH revealed in friend-only post to follow). I can’t begin to tell you how happy this makes me. I love it here, and knew from the first week that this is where I want to stay. Finally, permanence. My OWN extension again, my own business card again, my shelves full of my supplies, and this nice big cubicle which is no longer borrowed, but my own.
But the best part, and what makes landing this job so special, is that I actually have role models, something I’ve suffered a severe deficit of throughout my adult life. Here my superiors are all older than me, many of them women, some of them getting a late start in the field like I did 6 years ago and all of them encouraging and exciting to learn from. Do you know how GOOD it feels to be the youngest and least experienced person in a room? Well, yeah, you probably do, but it’s been a looong time for me. I’m going to love it here, and learn so much from these folks.
Thank you, God. I won’t forget this gift.
