After rehearsal last night I walked with
derspatchel to his and
pheromone's house for a visit. I had meant to suggest we join the rest of the cast getting ice cream in Davis, but I became completely distracted by the charismatic presence of
abbiethecat. What a beautiful boy he is. I love very large cats, and Abbie certainly fits that bill. He relished the attention, and rolled on the kitchen floor in the glow of the spotlight. Unlike people, cats can be attention whores and have it be completely endearing.
Speaking of four-legged things, it's autumn, the time when I always miss having a dog. It's perfect dog walking weather, with leaf piles and sticks to fetch and puddles for furry feet to get sloppy in. It's been 12 years since I've had a dog, not counting the two roommate-owned dogs who briefly lived at my house at separate times. Unfortunately I just don't have a lifestyle that's conducive to dog ownership. I work all day, am out in the evenings and much of the weekend. There's no way I would subject a dog the the lonely life they would have with a schedule like mine. Fortunately, there are many dogs in my neighborhood who I get to see frequently. My new favorite is a darling female Schipperke pup named Devil who thinks my black guitar case is a fellow animal she must destroy. Seeing that level of energy, perhaps it's best I stay on the cat side of the fence for now.
