Here it is almost noon, and I have potatoes to peel!

I had a blast at Booty Vortex with [livejournal.com profile] pheromone, and my dance partner [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen! BV is a disco tribute band -- that's what they do. And they camp it right up, as disco should be. What a riot.

If anyone had told High-School-Senior-Me that I would one day be kicking it to disco music, I would have strangled them with my pegged pants and skinny tie. Having come of age to Devo, Blondie, and Talking Heads, disco was the get-thee-behind-me musical genre immediately preceeding New Wave, and for me the word "disco" was uniformly followed by the word "sucks." No matter that I'd never listened to disco and didn't know any songs or bands, it just sucked because the 80's Bible Told Us So.

But DAY-am. With the retro cheese factor installed, I eventually learned what fun campy ho-ass disco can be. This was the first disco live band I've ever seen. It would be the perfect Ladies Night Out the next time they play.

OK, time to get on those potatoes for Thanksgiving pot luck at [livejournal.com profile] pheromone's. Hope to see lots of you come by. Maybe she'll play "It's Raining Men" if you do.
