Following last night's auditions, I jumped in with a carful of Firsties and off we went to Walden Pond for skinny-dipping and some fresh, woodsy night air. After such a sticky and sweltering day, it felt amazing to just slide into the cool, gentle water and let it wash the heat away. The night was very dark (as nights are wont to be), the bull frogs sang all around us, and the stars were out.

I've never swum there before, even in the daytime. I was partly expecting the water to be soupy warm, with a film of green algae atop, but it was far from that. The water was so clear and felt so clean. I've hardly gone swimming at all in recent years and the last few times were in the ocean, which is a wholly different experience. It was singularly beautiful to just float on the water looking up at the starry sky.

Then we told guy-with-no-arms-and-legs jokes.

We had to get dressed good 'n fast because of the bugs, but I was thoroughly cooled off and remained cool the rest of the night. Again sometime soon -- maybe tonight if I last that long.

EVENING EDIT: Unfortunately I never did get the disco nap that was necessary for me to stay up again tonight (I'm up way early for work every morning), and now I have to show the apartment all evening. So I won't be making tonight's run. But hopefully I'll be seeing you there next time!
