plumtreeblossom: (summer)
On Saturday, I finally got to try absinthe, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] pheromone. It has an intense anise flavor, sweet and strong even when diluted according to instruction. It is green and full of magic potion mystique, though the magic is in the alcohol. Take care with your portion size; its proof is nearly twice that of ordinary hard liquors. Even with my hollow leg, just one lowball glass serving got me drunk. The taste is summery and vaguely naughty. [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit, we must procure a bottle or two.

Yesterday found a few of us in Davis, enjoying the Somerville Memorial Day Parade. After all these years living here, this was my first Somerville parade. It was old-timey and a lot of fun to watch. [livejournal.com profile] warlord_mit had his parent's dog along, a fearsome tiny-breed mix named Ashley, who guarded us from the parade's trecherous Giant Dogs (horses).

By evening I was pretty spent, but I had the energy to plant the packets of wildflower seeds in our front yard, which further inspired me to order more seeds online. If they come up, we'll no longer have the ugliest yard on the street, I dare speculate.

This past Friday, I went down to the Office of Public Records to be sworn in as a Notary Public for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I had to hold up my right hand and read an oath aloud, sign a ginormous Hogwarts-esque book, and received my shiny certificate and papers. My embosser and supplies are ordered and should be here by next week. If you live in the area, I can notarize things for you for free. (There are Notaries Public at all major banks, but if you prefer having your documents notarized at Diesel, hit me up!)
