The Itsy Bitsy Spider(s)
Jun. 21st, 2007 11:17 amThe pretty courtyard where I take my breaks at work is infested with those tiny red spiders that bite. You know, the ones that are so small you can barely see them, but their bites leave coin-sized welts that itch relentlessly for days. There I was, sitting on the steps I'd been sitting on for 5 minutes, when I looked closely at the steps and saw I was sitting in a fine colony of them.
I jumped up fast and brushed off, but that 5 minutes was probably time enough for one to climb up my pant leg or under my blouse. I'm back upstairs, but now every possible sensation on my skin makes me squiggle in my seat and worry whether it was an itch or just my clothing brushing on me. I hate those little red bastards. I hope they have an infintesimally tinier creature that plagues them on their bodies.
Don't worry, I'll change every stitch of clothing and take a shower before coming to rehearsal tonight.
