Meeting With My Cast
May. 21st, 2008 03:13 pmSo, I'm directing a short play for the Theatre@First summer one-act festival. I had a meeting with my cast (minus one) for the first time last night. I think we're off to a great start.
My actors have lots of ideas, and I love this about them. Like many Firsties, they've all worn many theatre hats, and between them all they've been producers, directors, stage managers, designers, techies and radio drama geniuses-at-large. They have a well-rounded knowledge of the logistics of making theatre, and their creative minds work from multiple perspectives. This time they get to be actors, and I'm excited to be putting their talent up onstage.
We won't start officially rehearsing until the beginning of June. I have plenty to do between then and now though, first in line being a reply to the Tech Director's request for play needs info. I'm excited to get this thing up on it's feet.
