The Wabbit and I stopped into the mall on Sunday to look at various gadgets. I wanted to stop into Verizon (my current carrier) to get a price on the new PDA I want, the sexylicious BlackBerry Bold. But Verizon doesn't carry that model, and the salesman was urgently eager to sell me on the failful douchebaggery of the BlackBerry Storm with its nasty touch screen.
Let me just go on record as saying that I find all touch screens gross. Their most prominent function is to showcase fingerprints and streaks of skin oil. That Storm he was pushing was was so gunky with prints that I could hardly look at it. I would be embarrassed to let people see such a mess, or especially to let someone borrow it after my Fritos fingers had been all over it. The copy machine at work has a touch screen, and it always turns me a little green to look at it.
I'm on contract with Verizon until May 4, but after that I might be switching to AT&T so I can get a Bold. Wabbit coaxed the admission out of me that my primary motivation for upgrading my PDA is the Lure of Teh Shiny, not actual need, and my current 2 year old model still works just fine so there's no rush. But even the Verizon customer service rep I just called admitted that she gets wailing at the lack of Bolds every day, so maybe Verizon will start carrying them and I won't have to switch.
